Being There, a Dance Film Documentary by Maira Duarte and Carlo Olmos
“Being There” is a dance film shot in New York City featuring seven amazing dancers from Korea, Mexico and the United States. The theme is the search for genuine intimate human connections and their realization through dance in a city like New York.
The film will explore the dancers' kinetic connection to private and public spaces in daily rituals, with the conviction that we shape our environment with movement as much as the environment shapes our movement. Each dancer will be interviewed on the subject of human connections, intimacy, home, journeys and dance, with a focus on the meaning of “Being There” for others. The sound track of the interviews will be used in the film to guide the audience through this communal/personal life journey.
