Spring, a piece for three women and an imaginary tree
Spring: The season
This piece aims to express the beauty and creative energy of Spring, which can be ravishingly devastating. Coming from a place where seasons are difficult to distinguish one from the other, living in New York, I was amazed of the incredible awakening of the land and people after Winter. Ideas have come from different literary sources, such as: T.S. Elliot's The waste land, Antonio Carlos Jobim's The Waters of March, and H.D. Thoreau's Walden.
Letting go
The characters are women that have suffered the consequences of falling in love with the hopes and the exhilarating energy of spring. Throughout the piece the characters move from a broken state towards recovery and the feeling of letting go the memories, no matter how pleasurable they might appear.
Yellow flowers
The stage ends up covered by yellow paper flowers. The yellow flower holds several meanings, which have been always intriguing. Yellow flowers and yellow butterflies are mentioned by García Marquez in A Hundred Years of Solitude, a story about the continuos and repetitive cycles of life.
